eX - Trust Meter Privacy Policy

eX - Trust Meter reads account handles, visible post text, verification indicators, and selected page elements on x.com and twitter.com to apply the user's filtering choices. Users can enter trust scores, account categories, country and media labels, topic rules, and other settings. These choices are stored in the browser's local extension storage. The extension may also retain review items, draft AI suggestions, and a short local AI request log. An optional AI provider API key is stored locally when the user enters one.

The extension does not send telemetry, analytics, or stored trust data to a developer-operated server. It does not sell user data or use it for advertising.

AI features are off by default. A user may configure an AI provider endpoint, model, and API key. Before each request, the extension shows the destination and the account or rule payload for confirmation. If the user confirms, the extension sends that payload and the API key to the selected provider to obtain a draft suggestion. The provider may process data under its own privacy policy. The extension blocks request redirects and does not automatically apply AI suggestions.

Users should paste only text they wish to send to their selected provider. The optional endpoint may be HTTPS or a local HTTP service on localhost/127.0.0.1.

Trust scores, labels, rules, settings, the optional key, review items, drafts, and logs remain in local browser extension storage until the user changes or clears them, imports a replacement backup, or removes the extension and its data through the browser. A user can export a JSON backup; the export removes the AI API key. If the user shares that backup, the recipient can read the other exported data.

The extension changes the visibility of posts and side panels on X. Because this changes the page, X's own scripts can observe which items are hidden or dimmed. The extension does not put private scores or labels into X's page.

• Storage: Keeps user-created trust scores, labels, rules, settings, and optional AI configuration on the device.
• x.com and twitter.com access:Reads visible timeline information and applies the user's filter rules.
• Optional AI provider host access: Requested when the user configures an AI endpoint and makes a confirmed request. This can include a user-selected HTTPS provider or a local HTTP endpoint.

AI can be left off, and its saved API key can be cleared in the popup. The popup also provides controls to edit or clear local rules, drafts, review items, and request logs, plus backup export and import. Users can remove the extension and its stored data through their browser settings.
